Unless you are experienced in this, you will have to pay for a roofer and electrician to do it for you. This is because the solar panels and associated hardware will have to be uninstalled from your roof. The roofer will have to do the roofing and the electrician will have to reconnect the panels and hardware.
Large Appliances
If you have a large unit or appliance that uses an electric heat element, such as an electric oven and stove, electric hot water heater or electric furnace, solar power does not operate well with these. It may not be advantageous to have it installed.
In addition to the solar panels not working in the dark or on cloudy days, find out if the panels will work or won’t work if your area receives hail. You should ask about this prior to purchasing the system.
If the disadvantages of having a solar power system outweigh the advantages, then by all means, you’ll probably want to wait. However, if you do decide to go ahead and convert to solar, you will see the fruit of your investment after you’ve paid for the system in full.
